Biography

Jim Rise received his BSME and BAME in 1986. After graduation, he was a Herbert Scoville Fellow in Washington, D.C., working with members of Congress. His career in inkjet printing has been with Tektronix (now Xerox) where he is currently vice president and general manager of the Printer Business Unit in Xerox's Office Group.

After a training program in manufacturing, Rise played major roles in color printing advancement and development, including mechanical engineer, mechanical systems manager, program manager, director of product development, and vice president of Solid Ink Products for Xerox.

He holds numerous U.S. patents involving imaging, inkjet architecture, phase change of inks, pressure-fixing material, and other aspects related to color inkjet printing. He was inducted in the OSU College of Engineering’s Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers in 2001.
